MAIN OBLIGATIONS OF THE ACECR
" To implement development and applied research."

" Supporting, encouraging, and attracting young and talented students and researchers,
and programming and creating the necessary conditions and facilities in order to
provide the grounds for scientific and research activities."

" Creating appropriate institutes in order to write, translate, and publish books,
periodicals, and magazines to reflect achievements in research and scientific, cultural,
and educational papers and articles, and producing educational-aid materials."
" Participation in creating suitable grounds for more employment positions for university

The educational fields of ACECR in various training courses
have been designed in order to match the special needs of society. Based on the
experience gained in training programs, the short term and long term courses, establishing
higher education institutes, scientific applied higher education centers, and short
term technical training courses in 25 provinces, the ACECR has persistently been
active in offering training courses. The USC is a very good example of such educational
centers established by the ACECR.
THE UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND CULTURE
The University of Science and Culture is established in Iran
in order to promote the level of science and culture in society and to train specialized
human resources required by the country in 1991. By being active in more than
a decade at higher education levels, the USC is known as one of the largest non-state
universities in Iran. The USC is active in various fields of education by having
three faculties in Engineering-Technology, Humanities, and Arts, and also by having
Basic Sciences Departments in various majors in BA/BSc, MA/MSc, degrees, and Ph.D
programs. The USC has got a central branch in Tehran and various branches in other
towns and cities where about 7000 students are studying at the moment (spring 2007).
The educational status of the graduate students of the USC shows an acceptable scientific
quality, and fortunately, the level of success of the graduate students of the USC
at the entrance exam for Master's degrees has been very good. With 25% of the admitted
students at postgraduate programs, the USC has gained a very special position among
other universities.
EDUCATIONAL COMPLEX BUILDINGS
There are two complex buildings of education and research
at the USC. The education complex building is located at the central building (related
to the Faculties of Engineering and Humanities), the complex building of the Art
Faculty,
and the complex building of postgraduate education.
The research activities of the USC are done at the related research centers which
consist of Ruyan Research Institute, Technology Development Institute, Culture and
Art Institute, and Social Studies and Humanities Institute.
It is worth mentioning that a master plan for constructing the USC campus in a 10-hectar
square area is now under construction.
THE MEMBERS OF EDUCATION BOARD
The university benefits from 105 full time members of education
board in various faculties. Members of education board in various research institutes
of ACECR and members of the board of education of other universities also co-operate
with the USC.
THE DEPARTMENT OF RESEARCH
Due to the rapid development of science and technology, electronic
search
is undoubtedly one of the most important principles of the higher education system
of every country. The Department of Research at the USC is in charge of leading
research activities of the members of the board of education and students, especially
at postgraduate programs. Of the most important objectives of the Department of
Research, we can mention the scientific activities to achieve knowledge by doing
scientific and specialized-applied research required by the country, presenting
research papers, writing and translating books for special purposes.
It should also be mentioned that the activities of various departments and research
centers of the ACECR such as Ruyan Research Center, the Department of Social Studies
and Humanities, the Department of the Development of Technology, and the Department
of Culture and Art working alongside with the Department of Research has enriched
and strengthened the research endeavors of the USC.
LIBRARY FACILITIES AND LABORATORY EQUIPMENT
In addition to the library facilities, reference books, books
in Persian and international languages, CDs in various scientific fields _ internet,
the USC is also connected to valid information banks, and has made it possible to
use the latest scientific sources and valid local and international scientific and
research magazines for the members of the board of education and the students. There
are also equipped laboratories and workshops required by different departments in
various faculties on the campus which are now active. |
