The Faculty of Arts at the
USC consists of the Art Research Department at M.A. level, the departments in Graphics,
Painting, Fabric Designing at B.A. level, and the Department of Visual Arts at Discontinuous
B.A. level.
There are 1035 students 894 female and 141 male studying at the Faculty of Arts
(spring semester 2007).
EDUCATIONAL FACILITIES
- The central library of
the USC is equipped with books in Persian and English in various fields such as
history, art, the philosophy of art, fabric designing, animation, packaging, book
designing, logo, painting, designing, sculpture, traditional arts, and Islamic arts.
Students may also use 3 CDs of information bank in various fields of visual arts
available at the center of computer services of the USC.
- There are eight graphic workshops at the Faculty of Arts equipped with computers,
VCRs, TV sets, light desks, and slide projectors. There are also other workshops
and laboratories at the Faculty of Arts such as: four workshops for designing, a
workshop for batik printing and traditional batik printing and painting batik, workshop
for silk printing, workshop for fabric printing, workshop, dimension-forming workshop,
chemical paint workshop, sewing workshop, photography laboratory equipped with color
and black and white enlargement projectors.

VISUAL COMMUNICATION DEPARTMENT
60 students were admitted to this department
in 1995 through the general entrance exam of universities. There are now 275 students
studying at this department (spring 2007).
There are 8 semesters (four years) to graduate in this major, and the students are
required to pass
137 credits during this period.

PAINTING DEPARTMENT
In 1975, 60 students were admitted to
this department through the general exam of universities. There are now 307 students
studying in this Program (spring semester 2007).
The length of the studying period in this course is 8 semesters (four years), and
students are required to pass 136 credits to graduate.

- Producing works of art in various techniques and different styles in order to
elevate the level of visual and cultural knowledge of society with national and
Islamic themes.

FABRIC DESIGNING DEPARTMENT
The department admitted 60 students in
two majors on fabric designing and clothes designing in 1997 through the general
entrance exam of universities. There are now 117 students studying in these majors.
Students at this department are required to study 8 semesters (four years) and are
supposed to pass 134 credits to graduate.

The graduate students in
these majors are able to work in the following fields:
- Designing fabric for textile factories.
- Controlling printing on fabric in textile factories.
- Designing clothes based of Islamic criteria and designing uniforms for various
professions.
- Designing costumes for TV programs, theater, and movies
- Commissioning clothes production line.
DISCONTINUOUS B.A. VISUAL ARTS
DEPARTMENT
This department started admitting students
in fall semester, 2004 with the capacity of 40 students. It now admits students
with an Associates of Arts degree in Visual Arts and related majors through the
general entrance exam of universities for a B.A. degree.
The graduate students in these majors are able to teach at the secondary schools,
arts and crafts schools, and art institutes. They are also able to produce works
of art in the society.
The students are required to study four semesters (two years) in these majors and
are supposed to pass 67 credits to graduate.
